Choice Between Vegetarianism and Non-vegetarianism

Introduction

Now-a-days, people are becoming more conscious of the food they take in. Every milligram of food being taken by the people is now accounted for from the health perspective. It has been said that the non-vegetarians get lots of minerals from the meat products, whereas the vegetarians have lesser options from various vegetables. Often vegetarians find solace in the belief that they take lots of dairy products in their daily lives to offset for the lesser concentration of calcium in vegetables. But the truth of the matter is that dairy products and milk are not the best source of calcium. Instead, these dairies-based products cause osteoporosis in people over a long period of time. They do not have other significant side effects on the body , even if taken for a number of times in a day. There are other sources from where the calcium is obtained for vegetarians. In this blog, we would be looking at the other sources of calcium for vegetarians.

Reality Check

The first thing one should know is that calcium is present in plants , and hence, the plant products do have sufficient calcium levels. For example, the plants such as blackstrap molasses, tofu, collard greens, tempeh, soya beans, kale, almonds, tahini, broccoli do have sufficient calcium concentrations. Even the plant-based milks are calcium fortified, some even have Vitamin B12. Hence, no need for the vegetarians to rely heavily upon the diary products for the calcium requirements. In reality, the increased the diary consumption may lead to a condition called osteoporosis marked by the depletion of calcium in bones, which in turn make it highly fragile. Apart from this, these plants and the products derived from them are also the excellent sources of protein, iron and other foods for good health.

Appeal to Mankind

After having understood other sources of calcium, why should we unnecessarily disturb the animal kingdom and kill the hapless animals to meet our mineral supplement needs. Animals would be thankful to us for saving them from the inevitable death to feed our tummies. More and more people are getting aware of this and are slowly gravitating towards the vegetarianism, after learning about the positive effects associated with it. If you look at the statistics, you would become aware that the percentage of vegetarians in the world population have increased steadily over last 10 years. Moreover,  the modern scientific studies have proved that vegetarians lived longer than those eat meat and other non-vegetarian items. Through this blog, I want to share this information so that more people can shift from non-vegetarianism to vegetarianism. We are looking forward for the days in the coming years when people would roll their tongue out and flood their mouth with saliva when they hear about the V word. Nevertheless, we are moving in the right direction and we need to work together to hasten the approach of those golden years when people cease to slaughter animals for meat.

Objective of this Blog

Through this blog, I appeal to people to shed their inclination for the meat-based food and participate in this novel cause to end the slaughter of animals in large numbers to supplement our food needs. Time and again, we have proved that we can achieve anything if we dream big together.
